What
should you look for in a Hot Tub?
Your
hot tub should suit the climate you are living in
Mistral Hot Tubs
are made in Canada (called Pacific Spas in N. America) where
the cold climate is similar to that of Northern Europe . They
are designed to be deep (40") so that your body is
entirely submerged up to neck height to keep you warm
and comfortable. The depth along with an enlarged
foot well provides increased comfort.
Those
originating from USA (most come from southern states),
Australia or China are not suited for the UK . They are not
designed deep enough because in these warmer climates the
upper body is more comfortable above the water level. Hence,
one has to force themselves to angle their bodies to remain
submerged and to position the jets to the required location.
This is not comfortable for long periods of time and you will
quickly realise you have made a mistake with this purchase.

Mistral
Hot Tubs' design techniques allow us to offer a tub with
one of the deepest foot wells available. Now each
occupant can enjoy their own leg room. When you sit in a
Mistral hot tub you are reminded that there is no other
hot tub that affords the occupant so much space. With
innovative ergonomics, we have maximized the interior
seating of our hot tubs by radiating the corners outward
creating additional internal space. When you compare it
to any other hot tub of similar size you will realize it
is the most spacious hot tub on the market.

Running
Costs / Insulation
All
Mistral Hot Tubs have been tested independently to confirm one
of the highest efficiency ratings available in Canada for all
weather use. In order to be energy efficient your hot tub
needs to be very
well insulated. We go one step further in providing
our customers with factual information on the energy
efficiency of our hot tubs. We put our hot tubs through
rigorous testing procedures using independent third party
testing companies such as Warnock-Hersey
to give us documented pricing from all weather conditions.
Mistral
Hot Tubs cost no more than the cost of a daily newspaper to
run. This is also due to our Stealth Calcium Resist Heating
System which is superior to just a heating element thus
giving you the customer a 3-year warranty. Another benefit of
this system is that there will be no limescale build up around
the heating system. The reason for this is that with heat
exchange there is no direct contact of water with the heating
system - therefore we can guarantee it for 3 years. The silent
24-hour re-circulation pump provides lower running
costs as the main massage pump never needs to switch on
for circulation. This naturally increases the lifetime of that
pump.
Another
first by Mistral is our trade marked Energy Shield cover.
Using a space age aluminized liner, the Energy Shield
maximizes efficiency by reflecting heat back into your hot
tub. This liner also prevents any moisture from permeating the
core insulator.
Benefits
of Icynene Full Foam Insulation
The
Full Insulation System with Icynene has dramatically raised
the bar on standard urethane foam insulation systems used by
almost all spa manufacturers.
What
is Icynene?
Icynene
is polycynene expanding foam insulation; an environmentally
safe development in low density cellular plastics. It allows
foam to be sprayed without ozone destroying gases (HFAs or
HFCFCs) or formaldehyde. The micro-cells of this breathing
material are filled with air and there are no gas emissions.
Icynene is the only insulation material certified by the
Envirodesic Certification Programme for healthier air quality.
Locks
Out THE COLD
The
Icynene Insulation System expands to 100 times its initial
volume to insulate the spa envelope. The resulting blanket of
soft foam forms a thermal barrier against cold spots,
significantly reducing energy costs, so a constant temperature
is maintained inside the spa with cold air kept out.
The
reduction of airborne moisture helps prevent condensation and
the growth of mould or mildew. Unlike other foams Icynene does
not lose heat by absorbing or drawing up water.
We
fully insulate
our cabinets with Icynene (insulating factor R50) insulation.
Our insulation does NOT degrade with time and is mould
resistant. Full foam insulation also acts as additional
support for plumbing components, resulting in less movement
and stress on joints and fixtures - plus it suppresses the
noise from the pumps. unlike urethane foam does not shrink,
absorb water or lose 50% of its insulation property over 5
years
Other
manufacturers will tell you that full foam insulation is not
necessary. This is their way of justifying a cost cutting
exercise - does your house not have foam insulation in the
cavity walls and loft? Some manufacturers claim that
they can use air instead of foam to insulate their tubs.
Again, this would only make sense if they had a vacuum sealed
cabinet (as in double glazing), but they do not, as it is
impossible to vacuum seal the whole cabinet. Also look out for
flimsy cabinets and thin lids that will allow heat to escape.
With poor insulation the more expensive the tub will be to
run. Cheap tubs can cost over £40 per month to run, ours cost
on average £16 per month.

A
guarantee you can rely on - Built to Last
Mistral
provide a 3 year warranty
on the plumbing and 3 years on the electrical
components along with a Lifetime guarantee on the shell
for cracks (if your shell cracks, we'll give you a brand new
tub!). This is the best guarantee in the industry
because we have faith in the product and have the experience
to back it up. You will find that our factory Pacific
Spas in Canada has been in the business for over 38 years
and having manufactured for the Canadian climate since 1970,
the spas are built to last. Our
factory is TUV certificated for Quality and Safety and our
tubs are all CE marked so they conform to all European safety
issues.

Lookout
for companies new to the industry that have jumped in to make
quick money. You will find that their spas will be made of
substandard materials, you may suffer with many mechanical
problems, they are not suitable for this climate and the
guarantee often is not worth the paper they are written on.
Some companies that are quick to get in are also quick to get
out.

Durability,
a Clear Red Cedar Cabinet
Mistral
Hot Tubs cabinets are made of Clear Western Red Cedar
which is noted for its lasting beauty and durability as a
result of the heavy concentration of oil in the wood that
protects it from rot and discolouration. Also, the lip of the
tub comes over the edge of the cabinet further protecting the
cabinet.
Other
manufacturers will try to sell you a synthetic cabinet stating
that it is low maintenance. This again is another cost cutting
exercise. Plastic will continue to act as plastic no matter
how pretty it looks when new. Remember this is just cosmetics.
One must consider if they will last the distance. As you may
well have noted with other garden furniture, plastic will
eventually dry and crack due to UV rays in sunlight.

Health
& Safety - Entry Steps inside the tub
Health
and safety issues are foremost in Mistral's thinking. Mistral
Hot Tubs use only the patented Microban acrylics (an
antibacterial treated acrylic). Our tubs are structurally
designed with interior
steps to enter and exit. A simple yet necessary
idea as most injuries in the home are associated with getting
in and out of the bath. The internal steps and floor have
slip-resistant surfaces - again for safety. Also all our lids
come with locks for extra safety and a floor drain for easily
draining the tub. Note our factory is TUV accredited for
Safety and Quality.
You
should also keep in mind that Mistral Hot Tubs maintain
exceptional water quality due to our Twin Filter design
isn't it obvious that two filters will do twice the work of
one filter!
Stainless
Steel Cover Lifter
This
marvellous and exclusive option makes storing a hot tub cover
very simple for even the smallest of persons. Simply push the
folded cover into the lifter bracket and voila! Returning the
cover to its closed position is just as simple, the Hydraulic
assist makes it effortless.
