how does it work? Aqua Hot Tubs use Aquagarde

AquaGarde® has gone back to basics for watercare. We thought it would be best to go to the root of the problem and stop the bacteria from growing in the first place.

How do Bacteria Develop?

Have you noticed how the walls of the hot tub sometimes feel slimy? This slime is called a Biofilm, and that is exactly where the bacteria are having a celebration!

This is how Biofilm develops: Bacteria need peace and quiet to grow. Therefore, they will settle in the quietest place possible in your hottub, which is in the skin of the water (Did you learn in school about how water has a skin?). The skin is the surface layer of the water, the area that sits against the interior walls of the hottub and inside the piping.  Once settled the bacteria will create the perfect environment for themselves by producing protective slime or Biofilm and no amount of filtration will move the bacteria laden Biofilm at this point.  Even in a hottub treated with chlorine alone (or with Ozone or UV light alone) you will still encounter Biofilm. The bacteria can now peacefully grow in sufficient numbers, multiply and eventually release themselves into the water, ready to start settling and multiplying again. Yikes!

What does AquaGarde do?

When you pour a cup of AquaGarde® into the hottub water and activate the jets for 2 minutes, the reaction is immediate. The main function of this revolutionary formula is to thin the skin of the water so the bacteria will not be able to settle anywhere. They will not be able to form a Biofilm and therefore cannot multiply. The walls of your hottub as well as inside the piping will be Biofilm free. The bacteria which has found it's way to your hottub from an outside source  will be killed by the ozonator (or UVC light).

Another function of AquaGarde® is to coagulate the bacteria.  Normally bacteria are so small that they can flow through the filter. Using AquaGarde® bacteria will be attached to each other forming a much larger mass which will be caught in the filter and stay there until killed and removed. It is therefore important as in any hottub to keep the filter clean when using AquaGarde® (we'll show you how).

AquaGarde® also addresses the issue of hard water and lime scale in your hottub. Calcium deposits sit on the walls and in the piping of the hottub, AquaGarde®'s unique formula breaks down and dissolves lime scale build-up. Furthermore it reduces the greasy line on the edge of the water surface, which is so common when using other water care products.

And most importantly, AquaGarde® is carefully formulated and uses no harsh chemicals.  It smells great and is people, equipment and environmentally friendly.
